The Felixstowe Community Car Service is open to
anyone to make journeys for which no private car
or suitable public transport is available.
Eligible journeys include travel:
• for medical purposes (doctors, dentists,
opticians etc)
• to hospital (visiting and appointments)
• to and from day care centres
• for shopping and other domestic purposes
• to friends and relatives
• to link in with public transport
Community cars: These may be provided by
volunteers who drive their own cars on a nonprofit
making basis who are paid running costs
only.
Disabled passengers: Felixstowe Community
Car Service can carry disabled passengers in multi
purpose vehicles owned by FACTS. These
vehicles can carry one wheelchair and up to three
additional passengers depending on the vehicle
used.
Fares: Each passenger pays a set mileage rate
to the driver at the time of their journey. A grant is
provided by Suffolk County Council to subsidise
travel costs.
To arrange travel: Call 01394 282 857
between 0930 and 1300. If the office is not
manned an answer phone service will be in
operation. Leave your name, address & telephone
number together with the journey details and a
member of staff will call you back. Travel is
dependent upon volunteer drivers being available.
